The Canvas is a rectangle formed by four struts assembled at right angles by tenons and mortises. In large formats, is added sleepers so as to ensure rigidity. The assemblies are neither glued nor nailed, to allow a final adjustment by voltage key driven into the angles of the joints. The thickness of the frame members is a function of the overall size and strength of the assembly. This thickness receive nails (seeds) or staples that hold the canvas. Amounts are beveled inward, wire side, so they do not come into contact with the fabric, which could cause visible marks when the brush supports it.
The Canvas is considered the best medium for painting: it is a light support, easily transportable and despite its relative fragility, easy to repair if damaged.
